At Creative Styling, we are excited about our Certificate Programs. We now offer 3 comprehensive programs that teach you everything you need to know to become a master in the art of sewing. Each program begins in September 2010 and runs approximately 6 months.

We are now pleased to offer Distance Education for those who cannot make it to class. Just learn while in the comfort of your own home. What could be easier? You will be following the same complete course outline each month along with the students in the classroom environment. You will receive monthly communications and copies of all information to keep you learning and sewing. What could be more fun!
Each lesson plan will be received monthly and we are just an e mail or toll free phone call away to offer assistance.

Mastering the Art of Quilting
This certificate program is an excellent hands on program designed in a step-by-step process to help you become a Master Quilter. The Full Program offers you complete information about how to choose, prepare, cut and sew a full quilt from start to finish plus the opportunity to receive your certificate. Gain confidence in your quilting with the most in depth course ever.

Classes run the first and third Thursday of each month 9-12
*The following 8 topics are required to complete the program and are designed to give solid knowledge of the art of quilt making.
~ Colour Basics
Basic principles of colour and its terminology will be explained begining the process of fabric selection.
~ Rotary Cutting
Accurate cutting techniques will be taught to cut a scant ¼”, press fabric and begin to sew 13" - 9” blocks.
~ Quilt Making Basics
Seam allowances, colour selections, half square triangles and more will be taught in this session as the students complete samples.
~ Backing, Batting and Basting
Learn how to put it all together as the students quilt their layers of fabric, batting and backing.
~ Marking and Stencils
Picking your stencil or making your own will be covered.
~ Machine Quilting
Use the walking foot, straight line or free motion quilting to complete your quilt top.
~ Finishing Touches
Methods of binding, finishing and labeling your quilt will be shown as you fully complete your quilt project.
Mastering the Art of Machine Embroidery
Embroidery by machine has become extremely popular. Quality machine embroidery requires basic skills, good practice and the proper ingredients and equipment. Join this class to learn all of the essential information you need to use your embroidery machine to its full potential. Our series of step-by-step lessons will help you become a master embroiderer. You will learn all the techniques needed to produce successful embroidery results.
‘Mastering the Art of Machine Embroidery Certificate’
The following 7 topics will be covered over in this mastery course:
~ Getting Started
Learn all the basic knowledge of machine embroidery. The placement tools, terminology, and products for success.
~ Hooping
The size, shape and choices of embroidery hoops will be discussed, along with centering and alignment of designs.
~ Needles and Threads
This topic covers everything you need to know about needles and when to choose which one. There are many new threads on the market and you will try them out in your samples.
~ Stabilizers
Stabilizers are the foundation for decorative designs. If your fabric is not stabilized properly, the project could become warped, puckered or ruined. Learn how to match the stabilizer to the fabric and the design. You will stitch out samples of designs on different types of fabric.
~ Embroidery Styles
Beyond basic embroidery lies the world of creative embroidery techniques. These give new meaning to the words, “Creative Machine Embroidery”. From applique to free standing lace and heirloom embroidery, you will learn to do cutwork, lettering, embossing and many more techniques. Sew out samples of the various styles for your future reference.
~ Combining and Editing Designs
Learn how to manipulate your designs right on your sewing machine screen. You can duplicate and cut existing designs to create totally new designs. This is where your creativity will take you to new adventures.
~ Using the computer in your Sewing Room
By far the fastest and easiest way to customize or manipulate your designs is with a computer. Each design segment is digitized with a stop to make the design parts easy to extract using embroidery software. Learn to set up folders to organize your designs and how and where to find them on the internet.
